Chester Springs, PA – November 12, 2019 – Today, Defend Your Head announced its ‘High School Hero” program, designed to help make high school football players safer through funding from professional athletes. The donated funds will pay for Defend Your Head’s ProTech helmet covers, giving student athletes better head protection with ‘SAFR’ technology that reduces collision force by as much as 72%.
Defend Your Head’s first two High School Heroes, Philadelphia native and former Philadelphia Eagle/San Diego Charger Carlos Bradley, and Eagles All-Pro Tight End Zach Ertz, will be honored at an event on December 2nd at Chickie’s & Pete’s in Philadelphia. Bradley is providing ProTechs to Mastery Charter School, while Ertz’s support will go to Kensington High School. ProTechs come with the “Scientifically Advanced Force Reduction” (SAFR) seal, which assures parents that their players are wearing proven equipment.
“For over thirty years, we’ve been focused on one single mission – to make players safer,” said Steve Stearns, Defend Your Head’s Chief Executive Officer. “High School Heroes make that mission possible for more kids, and we are thrilled to launch the program with Carlos and Zach.”
ProTech’s patented technology has been proven to absorb and dissipate energy for the reduction of injury due to blunt force trauma. A three-year independent study by Penn State University concluded that Defend Your Head’s technology was the primary factor in reducing traumatic head impacts to Nittany Lion players. In addition to Penn State, more than 10,000 football players are wearing ProTechs, including student athletes at Penn, Temple, Alabama, and Baylor.
“The likelihood of even one high school player making it to the NFL is pretty slim,” said Bradley. “So there’s nothing more important than keeping Mastery Charter kids and their brains safe from injury.”
